Ever see some really beautiful paper flower crafts but shy away because the process looks so overwhelming? Let’s be real – if you’re anything like me you’re a busy Mama and sorry but ain’t nobody got time for that complicated stuff! Well, you’ve come to the right place! In the following tutorial, I’m going to teach you how to make gorgeous and oh so easy and beautiful paper flowers in a snap. Even your kids can join in on this craft, too!
Easy Paper Flowers

I don’t know what it is but I find paper flowers to be so beautiful. They really can brighten up a room and are a whole heck of a lot easier to care for than real flowers.
Flowers are just so beautiful. They provide so much happiness and inspiration. I’m much better with the paper variety than the real variety- I’ve never had much of a green thumb.
Actually, I learned how to make this simple, but beautiful and versatile flower when I was a kid. I guess that makes it a vintage project. When I originally learned to make paper flowers I learned with actual tissues. It’s totally doable to do it with tissues or with tissue paper.
Nowadays I actually prefer to make it with tissue paper. In my opinion, the final craft comes out a little crisper and can be modified if you want to vary the petal design slightly (you’ll see what I mean). If you want that versatility then tissue paper is the way to go.
This craft is so adaptable, too! You can just make paper flowers to make them by themselves. You could also create a bunch and make a bouquet. You could hang them as a decoration. Or incorporate them into a wreath. The options are endless. Are you convinced, yet?
Ok then. Let’s get started!
How to Make Easy Paper Flowers
You’ll need the following supplies:
- Tissue paper or tissues
- Something to tie the flowers-you can use string, small rubber bands (like the tiny hair rubber bands), bobby pins, or clear fishing line
- Scissors
- Ruler
Step 1 – To Easy Paper Flowers

Cut four layers of tissue paper into rectangles. The examples that I made are cut into 10“ by 6.5” rectangles. You can make bigger flowers or smaller flowers if you wish. You would just have to cut the rectangles bigger or smaller and keep all the layers the same size.
You can also vary the number of layers that you add. If you want a fuller flower you could add in more layers. I wouldn’t recommend going less than 4 layers, however, otherwise, your flower is going to be a bit sparse.
Step 2
After you cut the tissue paper layers stack them into a neat pile. It doesn’t have to be perfect but try to keep them aligned as much as possible. (Thankfully this project is pretty forgiving. Yay!)
Take the pile in your hands holding the short side of your pile in your fingers. Make a very small fold at the edge of the pile (the fold should be maybe a half inch) towards you. Flip over the pile holding is together tightly and do it again. Continue this until the whole stack of tissue paper is folded into a half inch strip.
Step 3

Take the strip that you created in Step 2. Fold it in half in the middle and tie a string, fishing line, or small rubber band around the center. You could also use a bobby pin if you wish to cinch the middle. This would create a “stem” for the flower.
Step 4 – Final Step to Easy Paper Flowers
Now that you have the middle cinched, start to pull up the tissue paper sheets that you folded towards the center. Do each layer one at a time, fluffing the petals as you like. Do this one by one until voila you have a beautiful paper flower!
Now I told you it was that easy!
Easy Flower Variations
Cutting the edges for different flower looks
You can also make some slight variations on the flowers by cutting the edges of the pile of folded pile of tissue paper.
For example, you can create a rounded petal by taking the two ends of the folded pile and cutting a rounded edge with scissors. This is pictured below.

You can also, create another look by cutting a “V” on both ended of the pile of folded pile of tissue paper, too! Like the paper flower pictured below.

So many options…so little time!
Paper Flower Bouquet
You can use these paper flowers and make a bouquet. You would just have to add wire stems or even use pipe cleaners. Create a bunch and put them in a vase.

Also, they are beautiful to put on a string and just hand as a decoration. You could make it part of a permanent decoration (like for a little girl’s room) or as beautiful decoration for a special occasion or a party.
Paper Flower Wreath or Crown
We also used paper flowers and made them into a wreath. Here we took wire used for hanging pictures and make a wreath shape out of it. We threaded the easy paper flowers on the wire through the string used to tie them in the middle until the wreath was full.

We have lots of other fun creative and craft ideas, too!
So you see it wasn’t so hard to easy paper flowers, was it now?
